Could you give us information about the establishment of your company and your operations?
The connection and experience of our company with shipping and transport goes back 65 years. Some organic structuring has taken place in the company since then to the present day in line with market needs and our predictions. Separations occurred in a number of different work branches in addition to restructuring. Sel Kargo is also a creation that has been shaped over time…
We founded Sel Kargo in 1983 in line with Turkey’s logistic needs and demands. In addition to our existing transport services a new formation called Sel Kargo was developed to provide milkrun services to factories producing domestically. Over time various services that we could classify under logistical services were added to their field of operation. Today Sel Kargo is a company specializing in providing domestic partial and complete distribution logistics services to producers, importers, warehouses and marketing companies in the province of Istanbul and neighboring provinces. We transport products for the customers we serve to their buyers in the 81 provinces and all districts of Turkey. During this process we take precautions make sure that dispatch delivery periods, insurance according to the value of the products and care against any kind of damage and all other issues concerning customer satisfaction are maintained at the highest level.
In addition to our Domestic Logistics Distribution services we provide such services as Istanbul Inner City Distribution, Complete Vehicle Supply, Partial Dispatch, Raw Material Logistics – Inbound Logistics, Project Transport, Franchise Store Distribution. While providing all of these services we emphasize our communication and boutique service approach as our most important fields in which we strive to be distinctive for our customers. With this in mind we as Sel Kargo do not limit our customers in terms of their needs and we strive to make their job easier by undertaking the responsibility they have taken on logistically to reach their goal. Every small detail is important to us. We make sure that whenever our customers calls there is a customer representative on the line to provide a definite solution, or they can contact me directly. We want them to be able to ask us what they cannot ask of other companies. We believe that if we can satisfy our customers and maintain sustainability we will be the greatest benefactors.
What sectors do you provide services to? Do you have special solutions for the cable sector?
As a company that serves the logistics sector, Sel Kargo takes on a key role as a service provider to customers in the cable sector. Every day we transport tons of supplies from our customers who have made a mark on this sector to their buyers throughout Turkey. As a company that is familiar with the special issues of the cable sector, we take all the necessary precautions to prevent these problems. We train our suppliers, our drivers and our loading staff to make sure they are aware of the requirements concerning the supplies they are transporting. We keep ourselves prepared to make sure that materials with varying properties like spools, cables, panels, fluorescents, bulbs, cable plates, etc. are transported and handled correctly. We also make sure that these materials are packed in the correct positions on transport vehicles. We are careful to select the right suppliers to make sure deliveries to places far from city centers like sites, dams, lodgings, etc. are made properly, which is a problem frequently encountered in the cable sector. By informing our customers about problems we could encounter ahead of time, we enable them to inform their own customers and consequently maintain their after sales services. In situations that are “very urgent” and “needs to be delivered today”, which is another problem we encounter frequently in the cable sector, we dispatch an individual vehicle if necessary, make sure the delivery arrives on time and convey this information to the customer. In terms of transport payments, an important subject, not just in the cable sector, but one that we feel is very important in the cable sector, we try to provide payment plans in order not to compromise the cash flow of our customers.
Do you only provide services domestically? Do you have services directed abroad?
Presently we are only providing services domestically. One of our highest priority goals for the short term is to perfect our domestic distribution network. We want to do our job in the best possible way. After we have achieved this our next goal will be to connect our domestic network to the outside. Could you assess 2014 in terms of your company? Please share your goals and projects for 2015.
2014 was a year in which we met most of our goals. The most important gauge for us in terms of customer satisfaction and service quality is our ability to continue with the customers from last year in the new year without any losses. Thankfully we have continued to meet this goal in 2014. In 2015 adding new customers to our portfolio while maintaining all of our old customers is a goal, which is very important to us in terms of customer satisfaction, we will continue. Other than this we have goals to improve our distribution network in Anatolia, expand into new sectors, bring our self-owned warehouse investment to life in Istanbul, increase our turnover organically as well as with new customers and finally to gather our companies that offer transport and logistics services under the name Sel Logistics.
