Özşahin AŞ Board of Directors Chairman M. Kemal Özşahin: “With our quality, which has also been confirmed abroad, we plan to make our exports figures even higher”
Explaining that the high quality Polyethylene Compound (XLPE) products which are used in cable production and can be cross-connected are popular in the domestic and international market, Özşahin AŞ Board of Directors Chairman M.Kemal Özşahin, said they had completed 2014 with good performance and planned to concentratemore on international sales in 2015. Şahin answered our questions about the company and its operations.
Can you give us an overlook of the year 2014 in terms of national and international sales? Was 2014 a profitable year for your company? How was 2014 from the cable sector perspective? 2014 was a difficult year for all industrial companies.
The sudden changes that took place in exchange rates and parities and the changes experienced in raw material prices because of the petrol prices made the production conditions more difficult. Despite this, as Özşahin AŞ, the long term sales we made with the advantage of being a local producer and our company’s financing power and the popularity of our high quality Polyethylene Compound (XLPE) product used in cable production which can be crossconnected, enabled us to close 2014 with a sufficient rise in figures. Would you share with us your domestic and
international market goals for 2015? At what rates have you determined your sales figures and market shares to be? Are you considering new markets?
In 2015 we will concentrate on the international market as much as the domestic market. With our quality, which has been confirmed by a number of different companies abroad, we plan to advance our export figures much further. Are you considering new R&D, production development and service and facility-machine investments? Our company, which had an expanded cable laboratory established for our Cross Connection Polyethylene (XLPE) product being produced in our Dudullu factory with 100% domestic capital since 2010, will continue to make its fastest investment decisions on equipment for this laboratory in the year ahead of us.
How would you evaluate the 2014 performance of the cable sector?
Our group of companies operates in a number of different categories like home appliances, automotive, shoes, technical parts and cable. The cable sector is one of the sectors that best represents our country abroad. In 2014 we observed with pride and pleasure the new investments of a number of cable producers. Hopefully this growth will be consistent in 2015 as well.
How is the national and international supply and competition in your sector?
As in every period, very tough international competition is present. …In an era where communication is speeding up rapidly and become much easier the rules of competition are being rewritten. We hope that our domestic investors and industrialists can find a good place for themselves in this competition.
Anything you wish to add…
Recently our industrialists have been experiencing problems in the implementation of legislation in subjects like the environment and work safety. Of course our company is aware of these requirements and will always follow them, however we are expending so much effort on procedure.
Simplifying these applications will support the industry. The domestic industry will become more important in all countries in the coming years.
