Our adventure in the plastics industry began upon my father Ali Ateş’s entering the industry in 1968. We launched the manufacture of screw barrels in 1974 under the name of Almak Ateş Makine. Subsequently, we increased our market share in direct proportion with the growth of the sector. Our adventure, having started with a 60 m2 workshop at the beginning, now continues in a 10,000 m2 closed area. I was born in 1976. I had my primary and secondary education in Haznedar district of Istanbul province and my high school education at Bakırköy Private Çavuşoğlu College. Later, I passed the university entrance exam and became entitled to study in Faculty of Communication of Marmara University and graduated from the department of public relations and communication in 1998. In 1994, I started my business life along with the school. I commenced to study at school until 13.00 and after 13.00 to work at our workplace. My father’s entrepreneurial nature must have influenced me as well, inasmuch as I started to ask the question of how we can do our work in the most technological way.
When I started my business life, we were producing with universal benches. Then we started to invest in CNC machine tools. Our new investments started to accelerate in line with the question of how we can produce faster and with better quality. We became the first company in the industry to produce integrated screw barrels by virtue of the heat treatment furnace investment in 2002. We started to produce plastic recycling machines in our journey in the sector, by establishing another company named Altech Plastik Makine in 2000. Our company named Altech started to become a sought-after brand in the sector with a rapid acceleration just like our company named Almak. After my brother Emrah Ateş graduated from the department of mechanical engineering, he took over the management of Altech company, and we achieved a very rapid export graphic.
We became a company which achieved to have Europe’s 4th metal barrel production capacity and which also became one of the companies few in the world by virtue of the bimetallic barrel production facility we imported from Germany in 2018. These barrels, which are preferred due to their longevity of up to 4 times, have filled a very important gap in our country. Our company, which is the pioneer of the firsts in our sector, has made a great contribution to our country in terms of added value with the quality products produced thereby.
As a society with no industrial background, we are proud of bringing two brand companies to our country and our industry as the second generation. Both Almak and Altech represent our country in the best way in the world thanks to their quality product portfolio. The most important secret of our success is due to our colleagues who have a very dynamic structure. Friends working with us are prone to company culture and work in harmony like a music choir. This because the priority of our companies is respecting people and providing the opportunity of humanely working conditions. Quality products come out with a good team. Our in-house trainings and our sensitivity to quality are the most important factors that lead us to success. We will continue to work for a better future, which our country needs, with our state-of-the-art machines and most importantly, our trained teammates in our factory in Esenyurt district of Istanbul province.
