Mr.Hakan Günister, Company Executive of “Osgün Çelik Makara”: “What we endeavor primarily to ensure the continuation of reputation and the success of “Osgün Metal” in the industry is to maintain the continuation of quality.”
Mr. Günister mentioned that first half of 2014 surpassed their targets and as of November the targeted sales quantities planned at the beginning of 2014 were achieved and even exceeded. “However, I must admit for the period following July that the business was only in its usual and normal course. Although the domestic market was a little dull during August, September, October and November the increase in exports during this period provided balance.” said Mr. Günister and answered our questions concering the industry.
Could you give some information about your products and services? Do you think to enhance the variety of your products and services?
Our company, Osgün Metal, provides the services thereof in the cable and wire industry with steel rollers produced thereby since 1988 until present. To explain it in a more detailed way, I can say that we produce steel rollers on which copper, steel, aluminum the lead and alloy wires are rolled. Furthermore, our company produces cable manufacturing rollers, cable transfer reels and wire baskets. We produce in sizes specified by DIN 46391, DIN46395and DIN 46397, as well as custom-made sizes upon the request of the customers.
I must mention in terms of the variety of products that companies producing cable machines develop in line with the developing technology. These companies increased their line speed by producing fast machines in recent years. To give an example, I can say that cable manufacturers began to purchase High Speed Take-Up or High Speed Double Take-Up machines. It is possible to reach line speeds of 1200 meter/min with these machines. And our company developed speedy type rollers with different feature for these types of roller machines. In particular we adapted our rollers with Ø1000 mm in and Ø1250mm diameter to work with such machines.
These fast types of roller machines are used in one cable company in Italy, in two cable companies in Jordan, in one cable company in Saudi Arabia and in two cable companies in Turkey. We plan to continue improving our products in this way.
Maintaining success in roller production has big importance. What kind of works does your company perform in this field?
What we endeavor primarily to ensure the continuation of reputation and the success of “Osgün Metal” in the industry is to maintain the continuation of quality. We are trying to stay away from any issue that may impair the quality of the rollers. To give an example we definitely buy the steel plates which are the materials we use with 1st class quality certificate. We always use 1st class quality materials ,from pipes to welding wires and paints.
Furthermore, we attach importance to following the developments concerning our industry.
What’s more, we continuously make plans and computations if we can produce faster, higher quality and more affordable rollers.
We have been making investments since 2 years to produce better and higher quality rollers. We constantly renew and improve our production. When there are errors we endeavor to get to the root of the problem and fix these errors completely by solving the main reason of the error. We do not apply temporary solutions.
I would like to add that, we are developing primarily ourselves and employees through continuous training. We exchange ideas with companies which produce cable production machines and strive to our work better in line with their positive and negative criticisms.
Could you, as Osgün, achieve your 2014 sales and turnover targets in a period when Turkey is also continuously developing itself?
I stated this issue in previous interviews. The first half of 2014 has surpassed our targets. I can say that as of November we achieved and even surpassed our sales goals we had planned at the beginning of 2014. However, I can say for the period after July that it has a normal course. What you would you like to add lastly?
We are always trying to serve in the best way to this industry. We produce the best and highest quality steel rollers thanks to our modern machine park and hopefully we will continue to make production also in this way in the future.
