“A totally new life in this city, full of beauties” METROPOL İSTANBUL, a giant project with more than 700.000 m² on a construction site of 100.000 m², bears the feature to be Turkey’s first large ecological mixed construction project of Turkey, planned pursuant to the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) criterions developed by the US Green Building Commission (USGBC).
It is targeted to achieve an energy and water saving up to 40% at the projects by the measures taken during the design stage, the selection of environment friendly materials, waste management and the generation of a part of the energy by utilizing wind and solar energy. It is planned to offer the inhabitants of the project a high comfort and minimal consumption costs. The most important elements which will shift the project to the green building class is the reduction of the waste costs by 50-90%, the provision of 30% water savings and the reduction of the CO2 emissions by 35%. The utilization costs will be decreased and the efficiency will be increased by the renewable energy source systems to be applied, the irrigation of the green areas with the collected rain waters and grey waters.
The project will be conducted by both active and passive methodologies like the building positioning, façade design, energy generation with wind turbines and photovoltaic panels, grey water utilization. Whilst the efficient usage of the energy is provided, it is targeted to decrease the quantity of the waste materials emitted to the environment. The fire alarm systems, aeration systems, elevators, warning and directing lights and doors have to be operable for at least a definite time in case of a fire in these buildings. The features of the Halogen Free (HFFR) safety cables of the brand KLAS KABLO Don’t contain halogen elements like fluorine, chlorine and iodine.
HFFR materials don’t emit toxic gases when they burn, only water and carbon dioxide is generated. They don’t conduct fire. Polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) are halogen free but easy flammable materials.
