Exports Manager of Erse Kablo, Mr. Hakan Kubaş: Erse Kablo achieved to become the export leader with its own manufacturing group during the last two years.
Could we get some brief information about your
company?
Erse Kablo was founded in 1996. We are the leading
brand of the sector with our vision, our
investments, our sales, our exports and total 200
employees, each experts in their fieds, including
50 white collars among which are 14 engineers.
Our product range includes; Ervital Fire-Proof
Cables, Erflex Control Cables, communication
and data transmission cables, Signal and Control
Cables, Instrument Cables, Vessel and Yacht
Cables, Silicon Cables and special cables according
to customer needs.
Our production activities are realized in our plant
in Silivri with a total area of 12,000 m2, of which
8,000 m2 are covered; and we meet the customer
demands rapidly by our 3,000 m2 large
logistics warehouse in Istanbul-Habipler.
In addition to all these, I want to share through
this interview for the first time that we have invested
last month into a new manufacturing building
with a covered area of 5,000 m2. These investments
will continue henceforward in a planned
manner pursuant to the strategy of our company
and our targets.
And our sales and marketing activities are conducted
by our headquarters in Perpa, our regional
offices in Ankara, Adana, Antalya and Bursa.
Erse Kablo has sustained its growth by increasing
its countrywide and international market share
every passing year by its controlled and regular
realized activities. Our exports have reached at
present 42% of our total sales. The products ve
exported have taken their place in project on the
international platform by their quality and specifications
and have represented our country successfully
and contributed to the image of the
brand.
As ERSE KABLO, to which countries are you
exporting and which problems do you encounter
in the countries you are exporting to?
Prior to answering this question, it would be
beneficial to say something about our export
policy. Our experienced export team strives intensively
in order to get out of the export routine of
our country by its market research, development
and, as a different method, market diversification
works.
In this context, we as Erse
use all the experiences we
gained for development –
innovation and in order to
carry our business to better
levels.
During the positioning of our
targets, we always try to find
an answer to questions like
“How can we create a difference
with the products and
services we generate and
will deliver to our customers?”,
“How can we shift
the employment we will
generate and the added
value we will create for our
country to one higher level?”
and “What are our priorities
in order to be a reliable and
asked brand?”.
Setting off with these values,
we endeavour to share our
backlogs, knowledge and
experiences with all our stakeholders, including
also our employees, customers and suppliers,
too.
The result of all these is that we, as a cable
manufacturer will fully domestic capital and
exporting to more than 40 countries, achieved to
become the export leader of our own manufacturing
group during the last two years.
By the way, if it should be necessary to mention
the leading countries we are exporting to, these
include; Iraq, Portugal, Spain, Bulgaria, Latvia,
Georgia, Belarus, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea,
England, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Chile,
Vietnam, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan,
Egypt, Jordan, Qatar and Kuwait.
No turning back to your question after this necessary
preamble; the greatest problem we observed
was that the compromises at the quality of
the manufactured products and the sales performed
far from ethic rules and that these are advocated
by saying, anyway we don’t our own brand
on the cable. We, Erse Kablo, are forced to
scramble the most on this issue.
Our other problems are that the excessive and
uncontrolled competition is also carried to abroad,
not performing marketing activities in a professional
manner, not being able to reserve sufficient
funds for R&D, not being able to generate
Know-How and the inadequacy of the innovation
activities.
Competitiveness is very important for the development
of foreign trade and exports. According
to you, which policies and measures are required
in order to increase the competitive power and
the service standards of the sector?
There are some basic barriers in front of the competitive
power of the cable sector like quality, efficiency,
capacity, qualified labour force, the foreign-
source dependency in terms of raw materials
and technology. And along with these problems
related to capacity and capacity utilization opportunities,
efficiency and foreign-source dependency
develop.
There are of course solutions for these. We, Erse
Kablo, have prioritized and applied during the
last two years activities regarding research and
development, innovation and the disclosure of
innovative ideas on technical issues and techniques
in order to manage these, generating knowhow,
brand awareness. We believe that these
activities will relief us a little more from the problems
mentioned above and be indicative for the
sector.
What is the importance of the RoHS and REACH
certificates in the cable sector?
Primarily, it will be beneficial to provide some
encyclopaedic information about RoHS and
REACH.
RoHS is the directive which requires that some
hazardous materials are not used in electronic
cards or materials. It consists of the initial letters
of the English term Restriction of Hazardous
Substances Directive. It is the directive of the
European Commission No. 2002-95-EC resolute
on January 27th 2003 which limits the usage of
definite hazardous elements at electronic products.
It prohibits the usage of Lead, Cadmium
and Bromide components which are hazardous
for human health. The directive is published in
the Official Gazette and set into force in May
2008 with the title “EEE Directive”, too.
The European Union has established with the
REACH Directive a concerted system regarding
the record, assessment, permits an limitation of
chemicals in order to preserve the environment,
health and safety at top levels.
As mentioned above is RoHS and REACH a systematic
with the aim to preserve the consumer and
user, the environment, plants, human health and
nature directly, which requires the manufacturers
to be careful, obey the rules, standards and directives
in order to create a more sustainable world.
We as Erse Kablo process the raw materials and
products we purchase and introduce them to the
market as cable products. It is not likely that our
products emit any chemical materials when they
are used under normal and foreseeable standard
conditions.
Our principle as Erse Kablo is; to ensure that all
raw materials and materials we acquire comply
with the RoHS and REACH criterions. This frame
is not exceeded during our production processes.
We produce and document RoHS criterions complying
products by the tests performed in international
accredited laboratories and our declaration
forms.
As Erse Kablo, it is one of our main policies to
develop and produce always products which are
safe, environment friendly and the human health
unthreatening. Our target is to use safe materials
which minimize the environmental effect and
don’t constitute a threat in terms of health. Our
products are continuously subjected to necessary
examinations, experiments and test for this purpose.
I can say that we have internalized the respective
terms in this sense as a company culture.
Could you provide us some information about the
ERVITAL FIRE-PROOF HALOGEN-FREE CABLES
among your products?
Now we are specialized on control cables, which
we produce since our foundation as Erse and we
have combined this expertise and the experiences
we gained from past to present under the
“ERFLEX” product group roof. Our slogan herein
is “you draw the speed under the control of flexibility”.
Our customers, preferring products of Erse
Kablo, are not confronted with high flexibility, performance
and safety problems.
On the other side ensure our “ERVITAL” Fire Proof
cables, which are used in the energy, infrastructure
and construction sectors we are providing
products and services to as Erse Kablo, the sustainability
of human life and living quality.
Every product we produce has a fire-proof version.
Our single production in the low voltage
energy cable class are power cables of this cable
group. We have realized a first in Turkey and our
Ervital Fire-Proof cables have successfully passed
the audits and tests of and certified by the
VDE and MPA organizations, accepted to be valid
in the whole world.
What should the consumers take into consideration
when selecting cables?
We suggest consumers and appliers to prioritize
human health when selecting cables and particularly
take care on the specifications, standards
and directives and acquire the products from
internationally reputed manufacturers.

obtain health and sufficient information from our
respective experts when they should need information
and documents regarding this issue.
What would you like to add as the last words?
Finally, I want to say something about the quality
policy of our company and its outstanding
aspects.
As Erse Kablo, we expand our product range by
each day and sustain our innovativeness vision.
Our quality management system, which we deem
as our principle to apply across our whole organization
pursuant to our foundation principles, is
ISO 9001:2008 NQA and VDE certified.
The “VDE, GOST-R, FIRE CERTIFICATE (RUSSIA),
TURKISH LLOYD, ABS, RINA, BV, LR, RMRS, LPCB,
RoHS, TSEK, TSE certificates are the other factors
which support the reliance on our brand.
As a result of the works performed by our R&D
department we, Erse Kablo, have implemented a
first in Turkey. Our E90 fire resistance standard
we committed with our fire proof product group
ERVITAL cables have successfully passed in the
laboratories of the international reputed organization
MPA NRW the system continuity tests pursuant
to DIN 4102-12 (E30-E90) and we became
the first and sole company which obtained the
right to receive the VDE quality certificate.
As a summary of all that we have spoken about;
we are the brand which sets its signature under
the cable group works of the most prestigious
national and international projects of present
thanks to our quality, our pre-sale and post-sale
service quality and speed and our stock power.
