CABLES OF EURASIA TUNNEL FROM PRYSMIAN GROUP TURKEY

Prysmian Group Turkey gave life to the Eurasia Tunnel, one of the most outstanding projects in Turkey, with the latest technology cables thereof. Prysmian Group Turkey, providing special products fit for all kinds of projects with the wide range of products thereof, recently partook in other big projects such as İstanbul’s 3rd Airport project, Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge project and Dardanelles (Çanakkale) Strait Submarine Cable Connection Project.
Prysmian Group Turkey, operation representative of Prysmian Group in Turkey, the worldwide leader of power and telecommunication cabling sector, gave life to the Eurasia Tunnel, connecting Asia and Europe with a road tunnel passing under the sea for the first time and opened to service on December 20 with the latest technology cables thereof.
Prysmian Group Turkey has supplied all fiber optic and data cable accessories in addition to cables specially designed in Italy for the Tunnel boring machine used in the project, as well as Firetuff fiber optic cables, data cables and cables required for the radio announcement system of the tunnel. 15-kilometer long coaxial antenna cables and accessories were used for the Eurasia Tunnel’s FM broadcast system. A special outer sheath color same with the inner color of the tunnel was produced for the cables Prysmian Group Turkey, supplying cables for many important projects in the world and in Turkey, has contributed to numerous special projects such as İstanbul’s 3rd Airport project, Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge project and Dardanelles (Çanakkale) Strait Submarine Cable Connection Project in addition to tunnels between Marmaray Ayrılıkçeşme-Üsküdar and Yenikapı- Sirkeci and Gerede Tunnels. Prysmian Group Turkey, supplying various subway and tunnel projects with different cables according to various requirements, currently provides cables to Belkahve and Selçukgazi tunnels in the same way.

Recently we connected the continents to each other with the cables we supplied for the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge and the Northern Marmara Motorway and the latest technology we used. We will continue our way in 2017, in line with our same point of view and in line with the projects we have implemented so far. We always compete with ourselves and try to undersign bigger successes we have achieved in the previous year. We will also continue to do so in the coming period.

A short, safe and comfortable journey between two continents Eurasia Tunnel will ensure safe and comfortable travel between two continents thanks to the advanced technology thereof. Eurasia Tunnel,built as two floors, will furnish one-way passage from 2 lanes on each floor. Eurasia Tunnel will be the key link that completes the road network and the fastest transportation between Istanbul’s existent airports. Reducing the traffic intensity will lead to reduction in the emission rate of the exhaust. Significant traffic reduction will be provided in the east of the historic peninsula. The tunnel, which will only be utilized by minibuses and automobiles, was designed to be resistant against an earthquake of 7.5 magnitude. Eurasia Tunnel consists of three main sections of 14.6 kilometers in total. The most important phase of the project is the part of passing the Bosporus which is 3.4 km long. Approximately 2 million cubic meters were excavated in the project while 700 thousand cubic meters of concrete, and 70 thousand tons of iron were utilized. In other words, the soil excavated in the project can fill 788 Olympic pools and the concrete which was used was enough to build 18 stadiums and the iron which was used was enough to build10 Eiffel towers.
