Could you inform us on your products and relevant areas of usage?⇒
Since its foundation date, the company has been involved in manufacturing processes for various products including silicon cables, fiberglass cables, silicon furnace door joint, silicon tube, silicon profile, cable set, plug-in termination and PVC cables. The company always looks for the future by means of its young and dynamic personnel. I would like to underline that our company performs procurement primarily for white goods and lighting industries whereas our products are required by all manufacturing processes related to the stated industries. For this reason, the number of target industries is not limited to two whereas our products are also needed in sub-branches of the stated industries. As ELCAB KABLO, we perform our sales activities with 2 professional teams in both domestic and international markets. We cover the demands of our primary export markets in accordance with a customer satisfaction oriented policy regarding reasonable price, quality and on-time delivery. On the other hand, we also conduct research and development activities together with periodical customer visits to extend our sales network in stated markets.
How you started the year of 2017? What is your anticipation for the first quarter?
Considering the first quarter of this year, we would say that the current year is not going very well for all industries due to the insecure commercial conditions caused by global political turmoil and variable market conditions. A considerable improvement fails to be achieved due to national and international political issues, market instabilities and currency fluctuations encountered throughout this year. It is realized that the companies in all industries just maintain current standings in a steady manner without any growth or downsize by trying to end this year with minimum losses. As we reply to this question in accordance with our country’s current referendum process, we would say that market conditions are not good for many companies in comparison to the previous year. There is a considerable decline in sales figures within the market due to the increase in Euro-Dollar parity and the referendum process. As Elcab Kablo, we currently proceed on our way without any change in comparison to the previous year.
Do you work for the American market? What is the annual amount of American cable imports? Which countries operate in this market? What is the priority of American market for Turkish cable industry?
As Elcab Kablo, we cover the demands of our primary export markets in accordance with a customer satisfaction oriented policy regarding reasonable price, quality and on-time delivery. On the other hand, we also conduct research and development activities to extend our sales network in stated markets. In fact, the closer you follow up a market, the more signal you would receive. However, the effective assessment of such signals depends totally on your side. Thus, your approach to a market and your assessment on relevant consequences are really important. As Elcab Kablo, we try to assess the signals received from market research activities in the best manner to increase our export rates. Accordingly, we participated in Critical Power Exhibition organized between 13-14 May 2015 in Milwaukee city of Wisconsin, United States of America, together with numerous manufacturers of cable, cable sets, terminals and connectors from 41 states and 29 countries. By our presence, we realized the American market is a correct target for our exports. I would like to underline that the target market shifted towards the United States of America due to the slowdown in Middle Eastern market whereas the American market became critical for our country’s exports. By means of our research, this market intending to purchase from Far East in general has reached a high import capacity.
Which countries you export currently or consider exporting in future in the America continent?
As a company intending to extend its sales network, I would like to say this continent is a highly active and effective area for all industries. We currently export to various countries to Americas including the United States of America and Southern American countries. We appeal to a broad area of activity within this market.
How you interpret the Brexit process in England? What will be the consequences of this process within the biggest market for Turkish cable exports?
The industry becomes trapped in a small portion of the market when the export rates to specific markets decrease. This is caused by the failure of positioning exports on several countries as a chronic and conventional mistake by industrialists. Therefore, we participate in exhibitions to increase the number of target markets and extend our sales network by spreading the risk and learning lessons from the consequences of current adverse conditions whereas we also conduct research and development activities together with permanent customer visits. As we always indicate it with certain instances, if you put all eggs in a specific basket, you would lose them against a possible impact. If you distribute the risk by splitting all eggs into two separate baskets, you would save half of them in minimum during a crisis. So, it is the most efficient solution for manufacturers and industrialists from all industries to distribute the risk by avoiding focusing on specific markets only. Thus, any decline in export data would also be avoided. For this reason, I wish the Brexit process in England will not bring negative results to our company. In the contrary case, I would like to state that we would get over this period with minimum damage by means of the above mentioned risk distribution policy.
What are the mistakes that cause damage to the industry or you observe in terms of sales and marketing activities?
The current amount of supply exceeds demand. Unfortunately, this leads to instability in all industries. Since specific criteria regarding the purchasing process has an impact in customer loyalty, it is observed that customer loyalty is eliminated by price pressure in the price oriented customer preferences. I believe the leading companies in the industry in terms of organizational structure, background and machinery should take responsibility for profitable, effective and successful works. I underline this condition is not related to monopoly, but it’s a requirement for development and effective management of the industry. In addition, the primary problem for manufacturers and industrialists operating in all industries including the cable products is focusing on specific markets only in foreign trade and failing to progress in terms of development and profitability by ignoring potential markets. This is followed by intense competition and lower profitability levels. Such phases lead to serious consequences. There are infinite potential markets to be involved throughout the world. A comprehensive and precise market research should be conducted to penetrate stated markets. It is also required to participate in the industry-specific exhibitions in order to reach target customer group.
