Mehmet Arbek Akay Borsan Electricity and Lighting Products Group CEO; Borsan Tarkets to Increase its export in electricity and lighting products by 50 percent

Borsan Electricity and Lighting Products Group, having achieved an export volume of 237 million Turkish Liras with an increase of over 68 percent compared to the previous year In 2018 and having rendered its exports 46 percent of its total revenues, targets to increase the share of exports in its production to 65-70% in 2019 and following years.

Borsan Electricity and Lighting Products Group, operating in various sectors with 15 different companies within Borsan Group and providing direct employment to 2,200 people, has achieved a growth of 40 percent in its total turnover and more than 68 percent in the export revenues thereof. The Group’s total turnover was over 515 million Turkish Liras while its export revenues were realized as 236.8 million Turkish Liras . Mr. Mehmet Arbek Akay, CEO of Borsan Electricity and Lighting Products Group Turkey, stating that the group offers the services thereof through 7 Regional Directorates in 81 provinces, makes exports to a wide geographical area covering more than 75 countries across in 4 continents, said that they would increase the share of their export in their total revenues further in 2019.

Mr. Mehmet Arbek Akay summarized the tar-gets thereof for 2019 as follows: “In 2019, domestic sales can be expected to display a more horizontal course due to cyclical rea-sons, however in spite of this fact we foresee a certain growth. Our export will continue to be our priority also in 2019. We aim to increase the share of our production for export up to 65-70 percent and maintain our valueadded and profitable growth stability in the domestic market. We act with the target of qualified, sustainable and profitable growth and adding value to our country and our stakeholders.”

Mr Akay continued his words as follows: “The importance of competitiveness based on R & D and business culture, financial structure strength and institutional producti-vity, as in every field of business, will make itself to be felt more and more in 2019 due to conjunctural dynamics. These are the important issues that Borsan has been paying attention to all the time and caring about in keeping its structure strong. We see it as the main focus and fundamental dynamics of our business, not only our products, but also helping our esteemed customers to manage their own risks and costs.

Market Leader in Africa

Borsan Electric and Lighting Products Group, exporting to more than 75 countries on 4 continents, has a very strong position especially in the African markets. Emphasizing that they export to more than 25 countries in Africa, Mr. Mehmet Arbek Akay, CEO of Borsan Electricity and Lighting Products Group Turkey said the following “We are the market leader in more than 10 countries in Africa. We are also the leader in LED and lighting products in West Africa in the same way. The positive approach and opinion towards our country across the continent, our ability to make production according to different standards in each country, and our product portfolio which can adapt to the infrastructure features give us a great advantage. We target to further develop our existing markets in Africa, further strengthen our market leadership and export to more countries in this continent. To invest in French-speaking countries in the region and especially in Algeria is among our plans.“

Strategy of Spreading in Europe

Mr. Mehmet Arbek Akay, stating that they have a strong position in the European mar-ket, especially in energy and aluminum cab-les, said the following: “We know the European market very well. Our close con-tact with the European market and our travel frequency enables us to analyze the demands, expectations and needs of our valued customers more clearly and furnish the most suitable solutions. In line with our expansionist strategy of spreading in the European market, we are focusing on furt-her developing our R & D and production power in weak current and special design cables. We shall also increase our product diversity in our CPR cables.

We Will Enter South American Market and Maintain Our Sales Stability in Middle East Mr. Mehmet Arbek Akay, CEO of Borsan Electricity and Lighting Products Group , mentioning that their company has reached the final stage in the preparations for entering the South American market in line with their market research studies, spoke as follows: “ As from the second half of the year, we are planning to expand in this region by supporting our efforts with exhibitions. Our priority product line will be cable. Subsequently, we would like to increase our efficiency in the market with our LED and lighting product group. Mr. Akay also mentioned that they targeted to maintain their sales stability in the Middle East markets.
