Mr. Biberoğlu, would you kindly introduce yourself to our readers firstly?
After graduating from “Robert College” private high school in 2004, I went to the U.S.A. in order to receive undergraduate education. I graduated from the Civil Engineering Department of University of Purdue University in 2008. Since then, I have been working actively within our companies operating in the sectors of construction, fuel oil and textile established through my uncle Mr.Selçuk Biberoğlu and my father Mr.Oğuz Biberoğlu. I became the General Manager of Kastro Kablo in 2014.
Would you give us some information about Kastro Kablo ?
Kastro Kablo, having succeeded to become one of the leading manufacturers of low-voltage cables in Turkey in a short period of time, is one of the prominent companies by providing services to numerous applications in many different sectors and is considered as a reliable solution partner by the high-quality cables it produces. Our company always produces cables with advanced technology and without compromising on quality thanks to its experienced staff with high knowledge accumulation and advanced machine parks and has adopted the principle of producing timely and economical solutions for customer requirements.
Would you give us information as to your productioncapacity and the products you produce?
Our factory, equipped with state-of-the-art production lines and machinery in Kıraç district of Istanbul, is one of the most modern production facilities in Europe in the field of weak current. Kastro Kablo, having copper processing capacity of 140 tons per month with its existing machines, serves the sector with a wide range of products manufactured thereby. Our product groups comprise Data /Lan cables, Signal cables, Command & Control cables, Coaxial cables, Instrumentation cables, Audio / Video cables as well as Silicone and Fire resistant cables in addition to special cables for different applications.
As a company, how did you perform in terms of production, sales and growth rate in first half of 2017?
Our company, having attached great importance to brand promotion as well as sales and marketing activities since the first day of its establishment, has achieved a growth rate of over 100% in 2017 compared to 2016. Kastro Kablo, achieving to deliver the combination of high-quality products, high-quality services and reasonable prices, develops the customer portfolio thereof each and every passing day.
Would you give us information as to your R & D and P & D works for high value-added production?
Kastro Kablo R & D team comprises dynamic engineers and technical personnel with many years of experience in the cable industry. This team continuously works to increase the quality of our products to a higher level by utilizing the possibilities provided by the latest technology while realizing innovative ideas within the structure of our company. Some of them are PV/H1Z2Z2-K cables used in solar system, PUR (polyurethane) cables which can easily perform in demanding operating conditions and Cat7 1000 Mhz cables and data cables which we primarily think to make the mass production of until the end of this year.
Do you have CPR (Construction Product Regulation) works in relation with the new law?
We were closely following the process of CPR because most of our customers were large suppliers in European countries, and naturally we have completed the certification works for many products they have requested from us before July 2017. Our certification works for data, signal, instrumentation and special cables with high flammability performance are also continuing.
Would you give us information as to the status and importance of your company in Turkish and International market?
Our export rate for our 2017 sales is 80%. Kastro Kablo, showing the success of making export to 24 different countries in a short time as 24 months, currently continues to offer Turkish products of goods to the world market as have demonstrated on a geography extending from England in the west to Vietnam in the east. The countries we export mostly are France, Austria, Germany and Balkan countries. What are you doing to increase your national and international sales?
We attach importance to sector fairs and regular customer visits with an eye to expand to new markets and increase our current market share. We participated to 6 international fairs in total during the past year. We sponsored the İNDER Urban Transformation Conference in Turkey and we will attend the ATECH fair to be held in Ankara at the end of November this year. In addition to our works as to brand promotion and marketing activities, we are making to achieve the delivery of better quality products in a more affordable and timely way to our esteemed customers by making investments in production technology and manpower.
What are the targets of your company in 2018? Will you have new projects?
When we first started production in October 2015, our target was to become one of the first five companies to come to mind in the field of low current cable in Turkey within 5 years. In the first two years we laid a solid foundation to this end. We consider 2018 to be a very important year for us to further consolidate and improve the perception of Kastro Kablo brand. Our main target is maintaining our growth momentum in 2016 and 2017 also in 2018 in terms of turnover. We estimate 35% of increase in annual copper consumption. I believe that we will further improve our export and domestic sales figures by virtue of our new machines and laboratory equipment investments, our product diversity and by concluding our international product certification processes.
