The reason in relocation of this plant with ongoing assembly works to initiate manufacturing process by the end of year is to improve European market by decreasing costs.

Borsan Group Chairman Adnan Ölmez expressed that the company has decided to move its custom design plant in Italy to Turkey and started assembly works. Chairman Ölmez also pointed out that the company intending to manufacture custom design cables shall be the one and only of its kind in Turkey.
THE ASSEMBLY WORKS ARE INITIATED
Adnan Ölmez expressed that the plant manufacturing custom design cables under Borsan Cavi title in Milan, Italy for last two years following the purchase in 2014 will be moved to Samsun. Ölmez also pointed out this decision has great importance for Turkey and Samsun since it is a significant strategic investment for the company. The purpose in relocation of Borsan Cavi custom design cable plant with ongoing assembly works to initiate manufacturing process by the end of this year is to decrease relevant costs and improve European market.
A GOOD NEWS
Expressed of Borsan Kablo’s significant investments in recent years, Ölmez continued: “We made considerable investments in manufacturing of copper and aluminum cables. Last year, we moved the Turkey’s second biggest aluminum cable plant from Gebze to Samsun. Borsan Kablo has become a leading manufacturer of aluminum and copper cables in Turkey. Naturally, we are not limited with Turkey. Although Borsan Kablo exports cables to 70 countries, we encountered problems in selling under market prices throughout Europe just like other manufacturers in Turkey. We performed certain works to overcome this problem. In this respect, we purchased an important manufacturing plant in Italy and continued production for 3 years. Our purpose in purchasing this plant is to obtain a global manufacturer identity with improved technology and the capability to manufacture custom design cables. We decided to transfer all production lines of our plant in Italy to Turkey by the end of 2016. Various departments such as laboratory, sales team and warehouse will remain in Italy. We will continue to sell throughout Europe under our Italian identity. Italian Government and the authorized unions didn’t wish to leave us. We took a right decision, but we experienced serious problems with Italian Government, municipalities and unions during relocation process. The reason is that the authorities are unwilling to lose technology and labor force. Fortunately, we overcame such problems. All production lines are transported to Turkey and the assembly works are initiated. This is a great news for Samsun and Turkey since we move a special plant producing custom design cables for space, aviation and machinery industries requiring high technology. This is also a significant case in terms of employment while it is more important that such products will be manufactured and exported from Turkey. The custom design cables are not subjected to any standard. There is no other plant performing this production in Turkey. We take this step first in Turkey. We improved Borsan Kablo to the most strategic points in Europe by purchasing a plant in Italy. Now, we are going to reduce our costs by manufacturing here in Turkey. In addition, we are going to improve our share in European market. This is an important strategic investment for us. We will continue our sales under Borsan Cavi brand. The production will be performed here and we will sell our products throughout Europe via Italy.”
